In that he says, "A new covenant," he has made the first old. But that which is becoming old and grows aged is near to vanishing away. (Hebrews 8:13)

This Covenant was between the physical descendants of Jacob (Israel), and their fathers' God, Yahweh.

With it came a Law, and many promises.

Take this book of the law, and put it by the side of the ark of the covenant of Yahweh your God, that it may be there for a witness against you. (Deuteronomy 31:26)

It also included provisions for the fulfillment of the original Promise to Abraham, to receive the Land of Canaan.

10and confirmed the same to Jacob for a statute; to Israel for an everlasting covenant, 11saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance;" (Psalms 105:10-11)
