The Promise of the Father

4Being assembled together with them, he commanded them, “Don’t depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you heard from me. 5For John indeed baptized in water, but you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6Therefore when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, are you now restoring the kingdom to Israel?” 7He said to them, “It isn’t for you to know times or seasons which the Father has set within his own authority. 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.” Acts 1:4-8

Father Yahweh has promised His children such a wonderful gift.

This Promise is so important to Him that He first spoke it almost 700 years before its fulfillment.

The Promise of the Father was to pour out His Spirit upon all flesh—this Gift, the Holy Spirit, was to belong to every single person called by Yahweh.

27You will know that I am among Israel, and that I am Yahweh, your God, and there is no one else; and my people will never again be disappointed. 28“It will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions. Joel 2:27,28

The Holy Spirit: He is the Power to do as Christ has commissioned us. All of God's children need the Holy Spirit to do the work of their Father. Jesus commanded the first disciples to wait until they received it, for then they would become witnesses to the ends of the earth.

We too must receive this Power, who is a Person, now that He has been poured out. The Power is none other than the Holy Spirit of Father Yahweh. This Power is not simply a force or extension of God, but He has a personality, and is Someone to be honored as Yahweh.

16For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, because it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes; for the Jew first, and also for the Greek. Romans 1:16

13Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

The apostle Paul knew that not only did the Gospel of Christ provide forgiveness of sin to everyone who believes, but that the Gospel also included that the Promise of the Holy Spirit was available to everyone who believes in the Lord Jesus, following His glorification as the risen Son of Man.

37Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink! 38He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water.” 39But he said this about the Spirit, which those believing in him were to receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus wasn’t yet glorified. John 7:37-39

This Promise was received through repentence unto faith, not through doing the works of the law.

38Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all who are far off, even as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.” Acts 2:38,39

5He therefore who supplies the Spirit to you, and does miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith? Galatians 3:5

Through this Promise of the Holy Spirit, the whole Gospel of Christ could be fully preached, with signs and wonders following to confirm it.

18For I will not dare to speak of any things except those which Christ worked through me, for the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed, 19in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of God’s Spirit; so that from Jerusalem, and around as far as to Illyricum, I have fully preached the Good News of Christ; Romans 15:18,19

4My speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5that your faith wouldn’t stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 1 Corinthians 2:4,5

You must come to the Father through His Son, Jesus, before you may receive what He has promised. This gift is to all those whom Yahweh has called, even to the furthest parts of the world. But those whom He has called are those who will say "yes" to His Son. For,

1Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God. Whoever loves the Father also loves the child who is born of him. 1 John 5:1

Thus, if you have received God's Son, you may receive God's Spirit. This is done like everything else in one's walk with the Yahweh—through faith; through hearing His Word and choosing to believe it; and thus, by acting upon it. If we believe He has given us His Spirit, we must reach out to receive Him, and thank Him for Him!

Believe for this Promise of the Father and allow the Holy Spirit to fill you to overflowing and to fully clothe you with His presence.

The Good Message

As you read this site, you will hopefully come to know Yahweh more fully.

But all of this continuing knowledge is useless unless and until you come into union with Him. I use the word union because it is truly a marriage. It is that deep connection we all seek, for which we most often look in other people. However, the truth is that our hearts will only be fulfilled when we enter that union in fullness with the One Who made us.

This is the grace of God, that He has not stayed distant for us only to worship as Creator. But He has come unto us, even become one of us—in His Son, Christ Jesus—in order to share an intimate union with us. He desires such closeness that it truly will envelope our entire life, transforming us into something new and wonderful.

You may have already entered this union with Him and only seek to know Him better through reading here. But if you have not, as you do read, let this Gospel sink into your heart as you read it now.

God loves you, and has cast your sins into the sea. He has sent His only Son as the Savior of the world—that includes you.

That Son, Jesus Christ, was born as a man through a virgin who had given her life to Yahweh; He lived without sin, reflected the glory of His Father, God, in all His words and deeds, and was persecuted even unto death because of it.

His death upon a cross was the powerful explosion that separated you from your life of death. It remains for you, now, to enter into that death with Him. As you die to the one you are now, a person separated from God from your many sins, you will be born anew, with a nature predisposed to live rightly. This gift is free to you, with nothing you can do to earn it. It is the mercy of God to offer it to you, as He loves you so much! All you must do is receive it by trusting Him to have delivered you. Simply place your life in His hands and embrace the freedom that came through that death on the cross.

The Gospel is that Jesus did not remain dead, but rose again on the third day after His crucifixion! Death could not hold Him, as He was without sin. And so death will not be able to hold you, as you identify with Him fully through your trust in Him. Let go of yourself and confess Him as Lord of your life. The power of His death and resurrection will work in you all that your Creator has destined for you. You will truly enter a new life and experience that intimate union you have been seeking all of your life.

So ponder these words as you read here of this great God—Yahweh—and all that He has revealed to His creation. Let His Spirit testify to your heart that these words are true, that God is Love, and that He sent His Son so that you might receive the life that is unbound by time and space. As you feel that witness in your heart, simply believe and receive what He is offering to you, even now, and begin your new life as a child of God.
