Two Sides of Life
The Holy Spirit had this word from the Lord Jesus to remind us of the purpose of His Coming, in this season when we remember that blessed event.
"I have come that you might have Life. For the life you had before you knew Me was not life at all."
Then He said that the two sides of that experience of receiving His Life were also like reading from two sides of scripture.
"For before you knew Me, you saw things from the perspective of:"
3Yahweh, what is man, that you care for him? Or the son of man, that you think of him? 4Man is like a breath. His days are like a shadow that passes away. Psalms 144:3-4
"But after you came to Me, you now see it this way:"
4what is man, that you think of him? What is the son of man, that you care for him? 5For you have made him a little lower than the angels, and crowned him with glory and honor. 6You make him ruler over the works of your hands. You have put all things under his feet: 7All sheep and cattle, yes, and the animals of the field, 8The birds of the sky, the fish of the sea, and whatever passes through the paths of the seas. 9Yahweh, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! Psalms 8:4-9
"And before you came to Me, you said with Job:"
1“Man, who is born of a woman, is of few days, and full of trouble. 2He grows up like a flower, and is cut down. He also flees like a shadow, and doesn’t continue. Job 14:1-2
"But knowing Me, you may now say:"
10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them. Ephesians 2:10
"And when you lived without My Life, you saw this:"
22For what has a man of all his labor, and of the striving of his heart, in which he labors under the sun? 23For all his days are sorrows, and his travail is grief; yes, even in the night his heart takes no rest. This also is vanity. Ecclesiastes 2:22-23
"But now that you have My Life, you boldly say:"
9For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s farming, God’s building. 10According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another builds on it. But let each man be careful how he builds on it. 11For no one can lay any other foundation than that which has been laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12But if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, or stubble; 13each man’s work will be revealed. For the Day will declare it, because it is revealed in fire; and the fire itself will test what sort of work each man’s work is. 14If any man’s work remains which he built on it, he will receive a reward. 15If any man’s work is burned, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, but as through fire. 1 Corinthians 3:9-15
"For when you leave Me you realize the vanity of that life that is no life, so I call to you to come back to Me, and to live in My Life, which is the True Life. For then you shall truly work, knowing that your days are not a fleeting shadow, but that the work you do will last unto eternity!"
Discerning Yahweh
God realizes the despair and sadness that comes when we look at life from the perspective of our natural senses and desires.
It is easy to become discouraged, because when we live as though we are separate from Him, alive for ourselves, nothing makes sense. Truly, all is vanity.
But when we receive the True Life, which is His Son Christ Jesus, we come to understand that this fleeting time upon the earth has lasting fruit if we work with Him. For with Him we labor to build God a spiritual House that will last forever!
Truly, we can discern Yahweh to be concerned with our despair, ready and willing to enlighten our minds to realize that as we live as unto Him all finds purpose and lasting significance.
